Train Stops in Woodcliff Lake

Recently, New Jersey transit announced the schedule for weekend service on the Pascack Valley Line. Unfortunately, Woodcliff Lake was not included as a weekend stop which promted Mayor LaPaglia to contact NJ Transit and question their decision.

Below is a copy of the email message sent to the Mayor in response to his request to have Woodcliff Lake included as a scheduled stop.

Subject: RE: Additional Service on Pascack Valley Line

Mayor,

The initial weekend service on the Pascack Valley Line was developed based on ridership demand and operational requirements. Currently, Woodcliff Lake averages 90 train boardings per weekday, which is one of only two stations on the PVL with less than 100 boardings per day (the other being Teterboro). At this time, the start-up weekend market is served with stops at Hillsdale and Park Ridge, which are each about 1 mile from the Woodcliff Lake station. We have similar weekend schedules on our Raritan Valley Line and North Jersey Coast Line, for example, where stations are close together.

Based on your request, we will carefully monitor ridership on the weekends and re-evaluate the stopping pattern based on market demand for our Spring timetable. The April timetable change is the next opportunity for significant service adjustments. Please let me know if you need additional information and thank you for taking the time to write.
