The Annual Lincoln Award

Presented to State Senator Tom Kean

Tom Kean receiving the Award from Dick Purcell

The Lincoln Award being presented to Senetor Tom Kean by Woodcliff Lake Republican Club President Dick Purcell

This year we have chosen as our Lincoln Award recipient a young man who is no stranger to New Jersey politics. Like his grandfather and father before him, Senator Tom Kean comes to us with a political pedigree that is just "perfect" for New Jersey. He currently serves the 21st Legislative District, which encompasses parts of Union, Morris, Somerset and Essex Counties. He was the original sponsor of legislation banning pay to play practices in New Jersey. He has sponsored legislation to streamline government, promote education, protect the environment and lower property taxes. He is a happily married man and the proud father of two young daughters.

In short, he is the right man for this state at this critical time in its history. His educational background, in both undergraduate and graduate studies, has readied him for the great task at hand. When elected to the U.S. Senate, he will be the first Republican United States Senator from New Jersey since 1972. Please join me in congratulating our 12th Lincoln Award recipient from Union County NJ, Senator Tom Kean.
