Meet Joe LaPaglia

Joe LaPaglia's talent, training and experience have served Woodcliff Lake well for over 25 years. A resident since 1973, he was elected to the Woodcliff Lake Council in 1980. Joe served on the Planning Board for 16 years from 1986 through 2002, most of that time as Chairman or Vice-Chairman. During that time, Woodcliff Lake underwent an intense period of growth, calling for strong, sensible leadership. Under Joe's able guidance, a succession of both Democrat and Republican Board members worked together in a determined, results-oriented, and highly-successful team effort to preserve the character-while ensuring the responsible development-of the community we are all so proud to call home.

In November 2003, Joe was elected Mayor of Woodcliff Lake by a significant majority of voters who wanted change. He has brought civility, stability, leadership, progress, and discipline to the Governing Body in the last four years. In January 2007, Joe was unanimously elected by his fellow mayors to serve as President of the bi-partisan Pascack Valley Mayors' Association, which includes ten towns in northern Bergen County.

A firm believer in the importance of education, Joe earned his Accounting Degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University, became a Certified Public Accountant, and went on to earn an Executive MBA from Rutgers University. His wife Margaret and their daughter Amy are both teachers with Masters Degrees, while their daughter Christine is a Doctor of Chiropratic medicine and Certified Acupuncturist practicing in the area. Joe and his wife are also active, longtime members of Our Lady Mother of the Church, and have resided in Woodcliff Lake for 34 years.

In addition to his mayoral duties, Joe LaPaglia is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Annin & Co., the oldest and largest manufacturer and distributor of US flags in the world, with facilities in New Jersey, Ohio and Virginia, employing over 600 men and women. Joe has served as President for the past seven years. His diversified business career includes senior positions with Price Waterhouse, Ingersoll-Rand, Faber-Castell and BDO Seidman. He looks forward to once again serving the residents of Woodcliff Lake, and protecting our town's interests as an outspoken advocate for our community.


Jeff Bader

For Council

Meet Jeff Bader

Jeff Bader's honest, common-sense approach to problem-solving and heartfelt desire to pitch-in and contribute to the town resulted in his election to the Council in 1999. His fair-minded leadership and strong communication skills have led to many cost-saving improvements for our town, including the switch to a regionalized emergency dispatch that will save taxpayers more than $400,000 over the next five years. During his six-year tenure on the Council, he also served as Police Commissioner, Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee, and Council representative on the Woodcliff Lake Planning Board.

Jeff Bader's business know-how, hard-work ethic and proven managerial skills make him a valuable asset to the Council, as they continue their mission to keep a tight rein on expenditures while providing top-quality services to the residents of Woodcliff Lake. A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Jeff started his own company over 30 years ago, and is a successful businessman employing over 75 people. He is the elected President of the Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers. As a member of the government relations committee, Jeff acts as a public representative on behalf of the Bi-State Association, interacting with State and Federal agencies and elected officials on a regular basis.

Jeff and his wife Gerilyn, residents for over 20 years, believe that there is no better place to raise a family than Woodcliff Lake, Their three children, Chad, Torie, and Callie, all attended Woodcliff Lake public schools. Jeff has long been an involved member of the school community, particularly in the area of Sports & Recreation. In addition to coaching girls' basketball and softball, and boys' baseball and soccer, he has chaired the Boys' Baseball Association (serving as President for two years), and was a member of the Girls' Softball Committee. Jeff is an annual volunteer and long-time community sponsor for the Woodcliff Lake Educational Foundation's Run for Education, and a frequent supporter of PFA school events and fundraisers. The Baders are active members of the YJCC in Washington Township and Temple Emanuel in Woodcliff Lake.


Fred Singer

For Council

Meet Fred Singer

Fred has devoted a total of 19 years of service on the Woodcliff Lake Planning Board (6 years as Chairman, 3 as Vice Chairman). He provided strong leadership during the difficult Mt. Laurel lawsuit, and oversaw the creation of the Affordable Housing Plan that enabled Woodcliff Lake to satisfy its requirements for at least 12 years.

He heeded residents' concerns about development, and fought to preserve the streetscape and upscale character of homes typical of Woodcliff Lake.

During his current term on the Council, Fred has served as Police Commissioner, DPW Commissioner, a member of the Buildings & Grounds Committee and is the liaison to the Board of Health, the Shade Tree Committee and Senior Association. As a member of the Senior Association Building Committee, Fred was involved in the design and selection of décor for our lovely Senior/Community Center.

A longtime supporter of the public school system, Fred served for 6 years as a member of the Woodcliff Lake Board of Education (3 years as President), and was elected to the Pascack Valley Regional Board of Education for 6 years (Vice President for a year and President for 3 years). His daughter, Barbara, attended Woodcliff Lake public schools, and his commitment our local education system remains strong. He contributes to the Woodcliff Lake Educational Foundation, and served as a public citizen member of the Old Mill Pool Restoration Committee.

In addition to his community service, Fred is a combat veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps. He rose to the rank of Captain and received a Commendation Medal with Combat V. He is a Past Commander of Pascack Valley Memorial Post 8946 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Woodcliff Lake.

Fred Singer and his wife Marijane have been residents of Woodcliff Lake for 44 years. He has been active and involved in the community from the beginning, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to public service.


Joe Langschultz

For Council

Meet Joe Langschultz

Joseph Langschultz has devoted his life to public service. Before moving to Woodcliff Lake, he served in New Milford as a Councilman, Planning Board member, Budget Committee member, Public Events Liaison, and Building and Grounds Liaison. He was also Senior Citizen Liaison, and was honored by the New Milford Seniors Association for his extraordinary efforts on their behalf.

Joe served overseas in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and was in the Naval Reserves for 16 years until he was once again called to active duty after the 9/11/01 terror attack. Joe proudly served his country in two important military campaigns, participating in Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom. He currently serves on the Woodcliff Lake Planning Board, and is looking forward to joining the Mayor & Council in serving our town on a larger scale.

An Elks member for 29 years, Joe was the American Legion Commander in River Edge from 1995-1999, and is currently a member of the Park Ridge Elks. He has also donated his time to Boy Scouts of America as an Assistant Scout Master, and was a Little League Board member and coach for 16 years.

Joe attended Bergen Community College to pursue a degree in Business Administration, and is a graduate of Lyon Institute. Joe was a Naval Career Counselor, and supplemented his training with courses at military schools in a variety of disciplines, including Radio Intelligence Communications. He sits on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Electrical Inspectors NJ State Chapter 40. He is a retired electrical contractor and a member of IBEW Union Local 164.

A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Joe Langschultz moved to Woodcliff Lake with his wife Lynn 6 years ago. They have two children: Joseph Jr. (living in New Milford with his wife Kelly and their infant son, Joseph) and Keri (residing in Middletown, NJ with her husband Scott). He is committed to exploring ways to lower our taxes without cutting services, while supporting the needs of our children and seniors. As Councilman, Joe Langschultz will bring a wealth of experience, dedication and knowledge to Woodcliff Lake.
